Sarah Katharina Kayß ist Strategieberaterin und promovierte Militärsoziologin /War and Defence Studies (War Studies Department @ King's College London). Sie war Gastwissenschaftlerin bei der Bundeswehr und Dozentin in War and Conflict Studies an der Universität Potsdam. 2019 erhielt sie als erste Deutsche den renommierten ERGOMAS Book Award für ihr im Vorjahr bei Routledge erschienenes Buch Identity, Motivation and Memory. Seit 2018 arbeitet sie als Strategieberaterin für das Bundesministerium der Verteidigung.
In ihrer Freizeit veröffentlicht sie Essays und Lyrik, gestaltet Großleinwände und fotografiert. Ihr letzter Gedichtband ist preisgekrönt (“Ich mag die Welt, so wie sie ist”). Ihre Fotografien zieren nationale und internationale Buch- und CD-Cover. Ein Jahrzent lang war sie Herausgeberin des zweisprachigen Literaturmagazins The Transnational: Cosmopolitan. Political. Transnational. 2021 erschien ihr erster Roman. Im Sommer 2022 folgte EPIC - Von Gesellschaft, Krieg & Hoffnung, eine Sammlung international veröffentlichter politischer u/o gesellschaftkritischer Texte. Sarahs Essays, Gedichte und Fotografien sind veröffentlicht in Deutschland, der Schweiz, Österreich, Großbritannien, Italien, Neuseeland, den USA und Kanada.
Sarah Katharina Kayß is a strategy consultant and holds a PhD in War and Defence Studies from War Studies Department at King's College London. She was a research fellow at the Centre for Military History and Social Science of the German Forces and lecturer in War and Conflict Studies at the University of Potsdam. In 2019 she was the first German author to receive the ERGOMAS Book Award for her book Identity, Motivation and Memory (Routledge). Sarah works as a strategy consultant for the German Ministry of Defence.
In her free time she publishes essays and poetry, paints pictures and works as a photographer. Her last award-winning poetry collection was published in Munich in 2014. For a decade Sarah was editor-in-chief of the bilingual literary magazine The Transnational - Cosmopolitan. Political. Transnational. Her photographs are featured on CD- and book-covers all around the world. In 2021 her first novel was published, followed by a best of poetry collection EPIC - Von Gesellschaft, Krieg & Hoffnung (2002-2022) in 2022. Sarah’s essays, poetry and photographs have been published in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Britain, Italy, New Zealand, the USA and Canada.
